SLAM TOUR DIARY - CBS, SXSW and beyond 5th April 08

It has been a very exciting week for us, we played on our second national TV show and had our van broken into..!

Davy, Ross and Adam at Jimmy Kimmel's studios in Hollywood

On Thursday (27th March) we played in New York at the Mercury Lounge for the fourth time. It was a fun night and we have enjoyed every gig we have played there. Unfortunately our van was broken into and our GPS was stolen,  having been to New York on more than one occasion we knew that this was bound to happen. It wasn't the GPS being stolen which was annoying but driving a few hundred miles with plastic over the window which annoyed us the most.

Our next gig was on the 30th in Chicago at a venue we haven't played since last Autumn. We really love Chicago and were really looking forward to getting back and playing there again. We had a sold out crowd and they really made it a great show. We are looking forward to getting back to Chicago in June. We had a show the next day in Madison, Wisconsin at the Majestic Theatre. We had never been to Madison before and the Majestic was a great venue. The show went well and we look forward to tapping into the Wisconsin market over the next few months.

The next morning we had a flight to Los Angles for what was possible the biggest show we have had on Jimmy Kimmel Live. After doing the CBS Early Show we felt like we were better equipped to play on such a big TV program. The Kimmel show is incredibly relaxed and the green room even has a free bar and a pool table and we felt more comfortable before getting on stage.

The actual performance went great and when we played our second song off air we got a standing ovation, the first time that has happened we were told. It was an amazing feeling playing and we hope it will help us break the difficult west coast. Although we never actually got to sit down and meet Jimmy Kimmel he did come up to us after our songs and tell us how much he enjoyed performance, which was great.

After Jimmy Kimmel Live (and after I had consumed a rather large amount of alcohol in celebration of a job well done,) we had a very early flight, which we nearly missed due to LAX being a nightmare to negotiate. We flew into Denver, Colorado for a show at Soiled Dove. It was great to get back playing a full set and to not have the pressure of being watched by a few million people. The venue was a fantastic place to play and we had another full crowd after we started playing.

Thirsty work - gigging at the Soiled Dove in Denver

We are heading to Santa Fe in New Mexico to play a show on the 5th. From what we have heard about how beautiful it is in Santa Fe we  should have a great time there.
